be2 @ the Lions International Advertising Festival 2008
The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival is the world’s only truly global meeting place for those interested in creativity in communications – www.canneslions.com This was the first time be2 was attending the festival, which already took place for the 55th time. Unfortunately, we were not there because we won one of the prestigious Lion Awards! be2 was invited by Microsoft Advertising being one of their most important global clients. Microsoft Advertising is the sponsor of the event and therefore organized several special activities for their clients.
Before the opening Gala on Tuesday Microsoft organized an interesting conference on Pioneering Creativology, a new word that Microsoft invented to describe the innovations of their advertising service. 
After this I was invited to join the Global Sales Team on the Microsoft Yacht where many interesting conversations took place during a nice lunch. That same evening the festival was officially opened on the beach of Cannes. Even though the French soccer team was defeated in the European Cup, in Cannes the party mood went on all night long.
The next day it was time to explore all the seminars, workshops and stands of many different companies. Also Microsoft organized an interesting seminar with top people in the industry about ‘The Boundaries Of The Blur’: The Digitisation of Film. Watch the video here
In the evening it was time for the most important awards for the Online Industry: the Cyber Lions. 83 Cyber Lions were awarded to many different creative agencies that evening. Also an award was given to the Media Person of the Year to Sir Anthony O’Reilly who achieved many great things during his career.
After this, the party really started at Microsoft’s Brazilian Beach Party. Our Microsoft contact, Craig, was so proud of be2 that he even tattooed our logo on his arm, so the next day the whole beach of Cannes would know that be2 is the best matchmaking service in the world! :-) The next day it was time to go home back to work, however you can find much more info on the Cannes Festival on their website.
